There’s nothing more annoying than a jambed door somewhere in your house. We’ve all been there at some point in time.
So how to fix it?
To release a door that is sticking or jamming, adjust the hinges if space allows.
The side or top of a door can be planed without removing it, but a wedge must be underneath to hold it.
If you don’t want to remove paint or take the latch or lock off a door, remove the hinges and plane from the hinge side, then rehouse the hinges and rehang the door.
To adjust a hinge you can either pack it or place it deep into the frame stile or the door.
If the door is binding on the bottom, you may need to pack the lower hinge out and plane the bottom of the door.
